Question: I am a 25 year old woman and am facing some genital problems. I have already physically consulted with 2 doctors around 4 times and both had told me that it was nothing to worry about and given me some meds and creams. I have a white vaginal discharge and sometimes inflammation in the area, skin peeling. Is this really normal? If not, are there any tests that I can take?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

Kindly share medications details prescribed by physician.

Usually white discharge around menstrual cycle is normal.

Please let me know,
Do you have vaginal itching/burning, fever, pain in abdomen?

In that case, I would suggest you to do discharge culture, complete hemogram, urine analysis, ultrasound abdomen and pelvis sos to rule out yeast infection after Gynaecologist consultation.

Along with that you can use V Wash locally. Avoid harsh soap and cosmetic products. Maintain proper hygiene. Use loose cotton clothes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you Doctor!

The discharge happens on all days, with little itching. No fever or pain but sometimes a little rash in the area.

Prescriptions-
Actually I have been displaced due to this pandemic and do not have the required documents with me.

This is what I remember:
Candid-B (beta) cream
Candid B dusting powder
Another fungal cream. I don't remember the name.
I do not remember any of the tablets prescribed during that time. But I do remember that when I had a respiratory tract infection, a general physician had prescribed Opox CV (200) as one of the medicines. Immediately after this course, the symptoms in genital area had worsened. I had gone to the Gynaec and she told me to continue with a fungal cream for symptoms and given a V wash and the symptoms gradually subsided. Though, the white discharge remained.
I was surprised that the doctor said that no tests were required despite asking to recommend something.

Will this get cured? I have had the condition for a long time now.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

As per your medication details, it seems that your consulting gynaecologist diagnosed it as fungal/yeast infection.

Still as you have these symptoms for long time than I would suggest you to do investigations as mentioned above after gynaecologist consultation.

As per your history, these symptoms worsened after taking antibiotics than you can take vaginal probiotics after consultation which may help. Take balanced diet.

Along with that kindly follow all measures as suggested earlier.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you for your advise..

What are your thoughts about this infection and marriage? As I am unmarried, I am confused in this matter on whether I should consider marriage or not.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

Vagina contains bacteria and some yeast cells. But sometimes due to antibiotics, the balance of bacteria and yeast changes, the yeast cells grows and causes yeast infection.

Usually yeast infection is a common condition/health issue in women.

When you are asymptomatic, you doesn't transmit infection to your partner. Only avoid sexual contact if you have any such symptoms.

As it's easily curable and common issue, so nothing to concern and you definitely go ahead with your marriage plan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
