I Am A 43 Yr Old Woman, 5’6” 220 Lbs.
Question: I am a 43 yr old woman, 5’6” 220 lbs. I have Celiac Disease and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I have been experiencing sudden pain and swelling in my heels, ankles, knees, and elbows over the last week to two weeks. Tiny red dots popped up on my ankles/lower legs that do not itch and don’t get pale when pressed. No fever but had what felt somewhat like the flu (chills, fatigue) over a few days last week.
Brief Answer:
Dear ma'am,
Detailed Answer:
As you might know that celiac and ehlers-danlos diseases are a kind of autoimmune disease that affects multiple organs, and the red spots you have been experiencing is another complication to the disease.
So, this red spots flare up when your immunity is down like when you catch cold, and will disappear again when your immunity get better.
As long as it does not cause pain, itching or getting bigger, do not bother yourself with it and it will go away in few days.

Should I see my doctor for the joint pain/swelling? I am worried about this meaning that I’m developing another autoimmune disease like Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Brief Answer:
Dear ma'am
Detailed Answer:
Am sorry if my answer got you more worried, but I meant that the celiac and E.D diseases may be accompanied by other unordinary symptoms due to low immunity.
That of coarse does not mean that you are or will be suffering from another diseases of immune system.
All what you should do is to calm down and watch this red dots as I said, if there is changes then you can consult your doc to examine you.
