I Am A 44 Year Old Female. I Have Been

Question: I am a 44 year old female. I have been experiencing a strange vaginal burning. It seems to be at its worst upon waking up not sure if thats due to the concentration of urine. This is my third episode in about four years. Each time they analyze my urine for infection which turns out negative. I have been diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis numerous times I take the antibiotics it helps a little but does not fully relieve burning pain. Currently I am unable to get the the doctor to check my urine (due to coronavirus concerns) I live in NY. I spoke to my gyno who feels that it is most likely bacterial vaginosis and or yeast. I was able to take an at home UTI test which showed negative for everything with the exception of leuckocytes (which is usually the case when I have a vaginal infection). I do not have burning while urinating usually before and or after the act of urinating is painless. My question is can a vaginal infection feel like a UTI and does the inflammation take time to decrease after antibiotics. Thanks for your help I feel unsettled because I can not get to my dr. for at least two weeks (thats when they should be resuming normal scheduling).

Brief Answer:
Yes

Detailed Answer:
Hi Juffer74,

The inflammation can certainly persist after a succesful course of antibiotics. A vaginal infection can feel like UTI. If it feels like it usually does for you, I recommend you take the anti-fungal medicine and/or antibiotics. The inflammation can typically be treated using ibuprofen and aspirin.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the timely reply! It does feel exactly as it has felt in the past. So you do not think UTI- I have already taken Tinizadole for the bacterial vaginosis will call in script for anti-fungal -Once again thank you for your help

also I tend to get episodes of facial flushing in times of burning could this be related to my age/ hormones if so is there anything natural I could take to help regulate hormones

Brief Answer:
No problem

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

No problem, I hope it helps. The latter symptoms you describe could be menopausal-related. To my knowledge, there is no natural remedy that can provide symptomatic relief from those symptoms. Hormonal replacement therapy may help, but you would need advice from your GP or a gynecologist to be sure.
