Question: I am a 46 year old male, today I played in a racquetball tournament today and was hit in the right gluteus with a racquetball. It has bruised and already feels painful. 10 minutes ago I experienced an extreme cramp in my thigh and got the chills. Can this all be related to the bruise?

Brief Answer:
yes, can be related

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, the symptoms can all be related to the trauma that you experienced.

Injury to muscles can be associated with spasm/ cramping in the muscle along with the pain.
In addition, chills normally occur with fever, even if the fever is undetected because it is slight.
Fever occurs as part of the body's inflammatory response

This inflammatory response can occur with trauma though it is more common with infection. It is the reason that fever is expected in the first 24 hours after surgery - the trauma of surgery, causes fever.

You can continue with the ibuprofen and consider adding a warm compress to the area. This would help with the spasms.
The compress can be applied for 10 to 15 mins , 2 to 4 times a day.

If this is not enough then you may need a stronger pain killer and may also need a muscle relaxant

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
