Brief Answer:
could be due to Occipital neuralgia.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, it may be occipital neuralgia.

Please let me know do you have a history of sprain, fever, numbness or tingling sensation in upper limbs?

To confirm the diagnosis, I would suggest you do an MRI neck with whole spine screening, nerve conduction studies after a Neurologist consultation.

Till then continue with the tab. Ibuprofen 400 mg every 8 hourly. Apply Diclofenac gel or spray with heating pads. These medications should be available over the counter.

You may require tab. pregabalin 75mg and tab. Nortriptyline 10 mg after the Neurological consultation. Dosage may require titration as per response.

Let me know I can assist you further...

Dr Shyam Kale
