Question: I am a 60-year-old female. My health ranges from there to go. Here is my question: sometimes when I urinate, I feel as if I am asked to bear down or polish to ensure my bladder is completely empty. Can you please explain why this may be happening to me? Any thoughts you have would be appreciated. Thank you so much

Brief Answer:
This is due to reduced bladder muscle power with advancing age

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query ..
Base on the facts that you have posted need to push or bearing down too empty bladder completely while urination id due to following two factors
1) As the age advances there is reduction in power of bladder muscles .Hence you need to bear down by increasing contractile power of abdominal muscles
2) In females after menopause there is a generalized atrophy of genital organs due to hormonal imbalance This process also involves urethra This leads to narrowing of urethral passage which causes obstruction to free flow of urine needing extra pressure to empty bladder ,

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
