Question: I am a 65 year old male who has COPD High blood pressure and I am over weight (315) lbs. I was laying on the bed watching TV and didn't realize I soiled my shorts until I stood up. What would cause me to not feel any of this happening?

I can understand your concern

Yes it might be that in some COPD patients especially in severe form stages 3-4 the voiding might be a sign of complication of COPD.

However if it is happened than it is continuously and not just one episode.So do not worry so much

If it is not repeated than no worries and we don't recommend nothing else to do .

If it will repeats than probably the urologist specialist consultation might be needed to evaluate better the urinary system. Usually they perfome an ultrasound of the urinary bladder to see if there is a residual urine.If there's not than nothing to do if yes than they guide you further.
Nevertheless meanwhile first ry not to take a lot of liquids and be aware of the voiding reflex.
