I Am A 66 Year Old Man With Some Off

Question: I am a 66 year old man with some off and on GERD and heartburn issues. I last had an endoscopy in XXXXXXX of 2015. It showed a slightly irregular Z line at 44 cm but no evidence of Barretts esophagus. I am a heavy diet coke drinker but have been weaning myself off of it. Down to 3 per day from 12. I think caffeine, chocolate, carbonated soda, and stress are all factors. So, it will be 45 days before I can get the test and see the results. My symptoms are a little heartburn, some mild stomach pain, and occasional hemerhoids. What are the odds that this has progressed to something really bad in less than 6 years? I am 6 feet, 200 pounds.

Brief Answer:
Hi

Detailed Answer:

Hello sir,
Welcome to ask a doctor.
Thank you for your query.
I understand your concern.
Well does not look much to worry about if there was no Barrett's previously.
Please upload previous endoscopy and biopsy report if available.
Also following things you need to which will help you in long run

1.Go for regular walk.
2.Avoid stress.
3.Avoid excess tea coffee aerated drinks excess spicy oily and junk food if any.
4.Try some yoga / meditation etc for mind relaxation if possible.
5.Increase dietary fiber intake by taking adequate fruits / salads and ensure plenty of oral fluid intake too.
6.Sleeping on time is very important including adequate sleeping hours (at least 7 hrs at a stretch).
7.Avoid excess use of XXXXXXX or television or computers as it adds on to stress and anxiety
8. Dietary restriction should include only those things which you feel aggravate your symptoms excessively, unnecessary restrictions are not warranted.
Unlikely that there is something sinister happening inside but let me have a look at previous reports.
Best wishes.
