I Am A Healthy 51 Year Old Male. I Had

Question: I am a healthy 51 year old male. I had an abdominal CT two weeks ago for a GI concern, which was unremarkable, except that the radiologist noted at the bottom of the report that there was "nonspecific bony heterogeneity" in the pelvis and in lower spine. My CBC is completely normal, which the radiologist said would rule out multiple myeloma. However, he said that I still should have an MRI to rule out diseases causing "pathologic bone marrow replacement" such as leukemia and lymphoma. I have no back pain and no other symptoms. The CT report also reads "no accute osseous findings" on the report. I did have an MRCP of my pancreas 6 months ago which was clean and said "no suspicious or destructive osseous findings". How worried should I be of having leukemia or lymphoma given this information, and more importantly, is "heterogenious looking pelvic bone marrow on CT something that can usually be benign?

Brief Answer:
Heterogenous pelvic bone marrow after the age of 50 needs investigations.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A bony heterogeneity in pelvis and lower spine at your age needs further investigations. The benign tumors of bone are rare after the age of 40. It is best to get an MRI scan done as your radiologist has suggested. It is always better to clear your doubt and help in early diagnosis of any abnormality.
I hope this answers your query.
