Brief Answer:
Can be emotional or due to stress.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using "Ask a doctor" service.

Erection problems in your age usually do not need treatment with medication.

When they are present normally there is involved an emotional distress, stress, a medicine you may be taking that may be the cause, something that may have happened in your past that shaked your confidence, ect.

I would recommend, before considering medication talking with your partner or someone about things that concern you, thoughts of insicurity, or other stress that may help sharing with someone.
If you are taking any specific medicine, consider talking to your doctor to switch to another one, as it may be a cause.

Consider exercising regularly and eating an healthy diet.

I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi there, thank you for your response. I have an emotional attachment to her so I know that is not the issue. I believe it has more to do with past experiences and the stress stemming from them. Every time we try I always think and hope I can get an erection. And when this happens I don’t. I just don’t know how to prevent these thoughts from circulating in my head. I am someone to get in my head easily so this is going to be a hard task.

Brief Answer:
Emotional can be overcomed by going over the emotions.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for the follow up question.

Yes, there is always something going on in the head in people who have this kind of problems. I don't know if you have talked with your partner about what is going on in your head, but that will surely help. Be open woth each other. It is surely not something physical, so the best way to get over it, it is to fight the emotional part. Try to keep in your mind that everything works fine physically, so it can happen if you just enjoy the moment and time together.

I hope I am being helpful.

Kind regards,
Dr. Papaqako
