I Am At My Wits End. Two Years Ago My

Question: I am at my wits end. Two years ago my CT (without contrast) showed mild bronchiectasis. Last year's CT with contrast showed no BX, but both CTs showed a collapsed lung. My follow up CT with contrast two weeks ago showed totally normal lungs. In fact the whole report was unremarkable except for some renal cysts. Heart looked normal. But my shortness of breath is as bad as ever. In fact, I just briefly worked out and that created an SOB episode from which I quickly recovered. With a normal CT, what should my next step be? I plan on seeing my cardiologist soon for my annual follow up.
Brief Answer:
Please do a bronchoscopy examination
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in Ask the Doctor
I am sorry for your situation you are facing
If you were my patient I would recommend also a bronchoscopy examination to evaluate better the airways and to exclude completely the lung and airways problems because chest CT does not always exclude everything in the airways. If the result is negative than no worries the lungs are clear.
The next step is to exclude the heart problems with an head ultrasound and Troponin CKMB blood tests and an ECG .Then the cardiologist specialist will guide you further if it will be needed.
