Brief Answer:
Diarrhea often happens with COVID-19

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using 'Ask a Doctor'. If by "loose motions" you mean diarrhea, this is likely part of the COVID-19 illness, if you tested positive for an acute infection. As long as you do not have any severe symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, most cases can be managed at home with symptomatic care such as acetaminophen for fever, and anti-diarrhea medications such as loperamide for the diarrhea. You should self-isolate, wearing a mask and washing hands frequently if you do have to be in the same room as someone else. If you are not getting tested to see when you are no longer infectious, it would be safe to stop self-isolating after at least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared, there is no fever for 24 hours (without using medications), and your symptoms are improving.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions about that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
