Brief Answer:
Difference in calf diameter between two legs

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using "Ask a doctor" service.

I understand your concern.

The way to understand if you have a clot in the leg is by having a larger calf diameter in ine side compared to the other. Thus is the most useful finding. One study reported that patients with a difference in calf diameter were twice as likely to have deep vein thrombosis.

Other factors that may help are dilated superficial veins and pain and tenderness along the course of the major veins.

If you have any of the above consider seeing a local doctor or even going to the ER. An ultrasound of the veins would definitely rule out or confirm.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
