Question: I am experiencing pain in my upper stomach. Started fairly suddenly last night while sleeping. very uncomfortable. At first I was concern it was heart but seems to be just below rib cage. If I push on stomach it hurts. kinda feels like gas but I've never had it like this before. It is now about 5 hours after first symptom and it doesn't seem to be getting better

I read your query and here is my advice.

Reading your symptoms it seems like you are suffering from gastritis, inflammation of stomach lining.
Taking three aspirin as you did made it worse because antinflamatory drugs make it worse.
I can recommend you to take antiacids such Pepto-Bismol or maalox found otc in pharmacy.
I think you may need to use ppi such omeprazole or H2 blockers such ranitidine.
