I Am Having Spasms Just Below My Left Rib Cage
Question: I am having spasms just below my left rib cage.
Brief Answer:
Please give additional information.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
Please give additional information for me to assist you better:
Since when is the spasm present?
Any other symptoms? Like Change in bowel habits, urinary symptoms?
Any sweating or chest related pain?
Does the pain increase on pressure over rib cage?
If there is radiation of pain to lower chest, back or so, it is best to get urgent EKG and other investigations.
Awaiting for your feedback.
With Regards.

The spasms occur when I am lying down on left side. Yesterday they occurred while I was sitting up. No change in bowel habits, no sweating and no pain associated with the spasms.
I have had a pacemaker for 9 and 1/2 years and a week ago an echo and lexican/stress tests were performed. Everything was normal. The spasms were hard enough to bounce my abdomen yesterday and the spasms are fewer today.

Brief Answer:
May be muscular.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
Nice to know that recent Echo and stress tests are normal.
From the information you have mentioned these spasms appear to be muscular contractions as the abdomen bounced as per your mention.
These may be non-specific or may be due to some electrolyte imbalance or local auto-nerve impulse release.
Since there is no change in bowel habits these do not appear to be due to colon problem. Nor you have mentioned any urinary/kidney related symptoms.
Hence wait and watch policy at the moment. Consulting a Doctor helps with an actual examination of the area affected and to see for any problem related to back that can cause such problems.
I hope this answer helps you.
Please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communications.
Awaiting for your feedback too.
Take care, all the best.
