I Am Having Upper Abdominal Pain And I Wake Up

ER visit recommended.primary relief with ranitidine/omeprazole.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.
* There can be various issues as intestine infection, gall bladder dysfunction or others
which can represent with pain upper abdomen, swelling and nausea.
As the amount of discomfort sounds much significant, an ER visit will help to relieve the symptoms much faster rather than waiting to self resolve.
Till the time, if available, an antacid as ranitidine or proton pump inhibitor as omeprazole with sips of water will help to relieve the symptoms on the way to ER.
Wish you best recovery.
Do feel free to discuss further regarding the same.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the follow up.
* Pancreatitis acute episode usually gives intense pain around more than 6-7 score on
pain scale of 10.
There is associated shooting pain over back, vomiting, fever and other systemic complains in many cases.
So particularly your issue does not fit into this category.
However, if wants to try for certain period of time, you must maintain chart of symptomatic improvement over period of time with following measures
- Drink more liquids in sessions.
- Avoid aerated drinks.
- Consume easily digestible home made food stuffs and avoid spices, non veg, junk
items with spices.
- High fiber diet with more of organic fresh fruits, cereals, pulses, legumes are beneficial.
- Fresh curd or butter milk provides lacto bacilli to replenish the disturbed gut flora.
- Keep stomach empty for 25 % of satiety level each time and consume small frequent
meals.
- Regular walking, exercises with ambulatory approach.
- Manage sound regular sleep.
- Avoid stress and anxiety.
- Avoid smoking or alcohol if consuming.
- Intake of omeprazole 2 times a day with sips of water on empty stomach helps great.
- In case of more colic or spasm - can get prescription of dicyclomine as an anti
spasmodic agent from your GP.
Advisable to follow up after 24 hours about the progress of the condition or early as per the need.
Regards.
