I Am Struggling With Tiredness And Fatigue On Almost A

default
Posted on Sat, 17 Aug 2019
Question: I am struggling with tiredness and fatigue on almost a daily basis. It does not get worse with activity and does not leave me unable to go about my daily life, but makes things harder. I tend to wake up around 5am every day for no real reason and am still very tired. I then go back to sleep until around 7.30am when my alarm wakes me up. If I go back to sleep for any extra time after this on the weekend, I feel awful for the whole day, with heavy eyes and headaches.

I have had many tests by my own doctor and all have come back normal. My daily fatigue varies from day to day and is accompanied by headaches (particularly above my eyes) and muscle pain in my lower back, legs, face and neck.

I have days where I feel much better or normal and then days where I feel awful. I can’t work out any pattern to this.

Brief Answer:
Hypothyroidism and iron deficiency anemia may cause it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you may need to get further evaluated.
I want to know if you recently did a total blood count with formula
feritimemia
thyroid hormones like T3, T4 and TSH
eye control at ophthalmologist.
Iron deficiency anemia and hypothyroidism may be causes of fatigue and tiredness.
Also a poor sight, need to use glasses and long hours working on computer may cause tiredness and headache.
Long hours working on computer can give you back pain and neck pain.
Also you may need to visit a rheumatologist for back and neck pain. Doing a xray may be advised to evaluate your situation.

Hope I have answered the question.

Thank you for your reply.

I have had several blood tests looking at a variety of things including blood count, iron levels and thyroid function. All have come back completely normal. I had an full eye test in November but this is something I will go back for.

I do suffer from anxiety and low mood and often wonder if there is a link with this but can’t always see a clear connection.

Brief Answer:
Anxiety may be the cause of your symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
Of course I can relate anxiety with fatigue and tiredness. Anxiety can cause you to have poor sleep and it can be the cause of headache mainly in mornings and tiredness and fatigue.
Probably you may need to consult your psychiatrist about anxiety treatment if you can start using any treatment about it.
Imipramine may be used.
You can firstly use any herbal therapy found otc in pharmacy.
Reduce caffeine and alcohol consumption .
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.
