Brief Answer:
You can do a chest X ray to exclude lung cancer if you are so worried about

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in Ask the Doctor

I am sorry for your situation and I can understand your concern

According to the history you provide in my opinion your symptoms and especially the pain and cough are related to reflux or GERD. In my opinion this is not a lung cancer however if you are so worried than a chest X ray may exclude specifically this concern. And I also recommend you to quit smoking.

I think you are overstressed now and you shouldn't in fact.
You just try to be correct with the GERD treatment and the cough and pain will improve definitely.
Hope to have been helpful
