I Am Thinking About Switching From Lexapro To Cymbalta Due

Question: I am thinking about switching from lexapro to cymbalta due to weight gain. My current doctor thinks that I will be able to lose weight and keep off with cymbalta and will still have benefits around low anxiety. please let me know what you think. I am taking only 5 mg of lexapro because I am very sensitive to medications so I am also wondering about the transition from one medication to the other without major pain and side effects. Thanks.
Brief Answer:
Low weight gain with cymbalta
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome here.
I understand your concerns.
Lexapro can cause weight gain. Whereas cymbalta is relatively safer in that regard. Although weight gain is a possibility with this too.
But, in my opinion, lexapro is a better anti-anxiety medication as compared to cymbalta.
If you want to switch to cymbals, you first start with 20mg of cymbalta and keep taking lexapro for one week. Then, you can stop lexapro and increase the dose of cymbalta as needed.
Hope this answers your query.
Thanks.
