I Am Under The Care Of A Urologist For A

Posted on Sat, 7 Mar 2020
Question: I am under the care of a urologist for a 33mm kidney stone. I had an infection when I went to ER so after an abdominal CAT scan or MRI he just put the stent in. I was on antibiotics from 1/28 to 2/6 at his direction. No problems then. Now I've been off antobiotics for a little over 2 days and my temp is spiking from MY normal of 97.4 to 98.7. Is this an emergency? I have had sepsis before but the nurse said not to worry when I talked to her 2/7 unless I hit 101F

I was also treated for sepsis in Oct 2019 which my urologist believes was also caused by this infectious stone.

I have NOT received a call or email. I checked spam and trash folders

Brief Answer:
You should go to the emergency department

Detailed Answer:
Hi Spookycc,

From your description it sounds like the kidney stone is causing problems. As a urinary tract infection in your case can cause kidney damage, I suggest you go to the ER for antibiotics and urological assessment in terms of a semi acute extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (stone crushing).

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have further questions.
