I Am Very Grateful For This App As I Feel

Question: I am very grateful for this app as I feel like I can finally ask questions that I have been too embarrassed to ask my physician as I feel like I%E2%80%99m in a %E2%80%9Cwhy bother asking now%E2%80%9D phase. But this has something that has been a prevailing problem this past year.
I was never big into cardio, I enjoy lifting weight more. But when I did lift heavy weight I always did it with a friend - my rest time between sets was always significant and I had plenty of time to huff and puff away until I caught my breath.
Over the past summer of course I had to turn to cardio over going to the gym. And I have noticed my breathing is not good. I also did physical therapy over the summer and noticed I struggled a lot to breath. The therapist constantly had to remind me to breath in through my nose and out through my mouth. Here is the problem though - I can%E2%80%99t. The mask is not an issue. I simple cannot inhale hard enough through my nose. I believe my nostrils may be too narrow (if that is even a thing). Every time I got to inhale for a sufficient amount of air to do an exercise, both of my nostrils close up and I%E2%80%99m not actually inhaling that much. My nose is sort of tall so I find it odd that my nostrils are not very useful. I don%E2%80%99t have a history of sinus problems; I don%E2%80%99t even think I have ever had a sinus infection. I don%E2%80%99t have any allergies, I barely even experience seasonal allergy symptoms. That is why I feel silly bringing it up now. I always thought that even breathing exercises to help with anxiety were useless because well I couldn%E2%80%99t actually breath and it made me more anxious. What could be the problem? Why can%E2%80%99t I inhale through my nose? I can always include pictures of my nose, it is not dramatically large, but to me it is large enough to be able to properly breathe out of. I have been asking all of my friends to inhale through their nose for me and show me what it looks like - and needless to say their nostrils do not close in like mine do. Thank you for your time in advance!

Brief Answer:
Do a spirometry first.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think it would be a good idea doing a spirometry to check lung's capacity.
I don't think that the problem is related to long nose or small nostrils.
The difficulty inhaling may cause them to close up.
Check lung's capacity and lungs function by spirometry. It can be related to allergies or possibly to chronic bronchitis.
Having history of sinusitis also may contribute to it.
I don't know if you smoke but it can't be a cause too.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

that does not make sense as i do not have a history of sinus or allergies. could it be because of TB tjat my lung capacity is low?
Brief Answer:
It can be nasal septum deviation also.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
I think also you should get your nose checked by ENT doctor to check for possible deviation or polyps growing in it.
Then if it is normal do a spirometry.
If it wat TB you may have had couch, fever , chills, night sweats , and not normal x-ray.
