Question: I am wondering (posted last night in relation to the following question) if I do not eat any foods containing iron (or at least the bare minimum) will my iron drop in the next 6 weeks. Apparently went over the top due to Vitron C. Also, I am looking for a chart that displays ALL levels of iron ie when it is low / normal through high / toxic? I can only seem to find a chart with the Hemoglobin references. I am looking for the chart that has 350 - 500 iron level being something and then 500 - 1000 being something else.
Thank you for any help. I have been looking for two days.
Brief Answer:
The chart is below
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
A chart is
Less than 350 mg/dl minimal toxicity
Between 350 - 500 mg/dl mild to moderate gastrointestinal symptoms.
Greater than 500mg/dl serious systemic toxicity.
Greater than 1000mg/dl significant morbidity and mortality.
You should stop taking the iron supplement immediately.
Stop taking vitamin C and vitamin C fruits like lemon, orange or green vegetables.
Stop taking red meat or liver.
Also eating calcium rich food such eggs and milk can make difficult iron absorption.
You will not have symptoms with that iron levels that you actually have.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
