I Can't Seem To Walk Any Distance Without Getting Winded.

Question: I can't seem to walk any distance without getting winded. I feel the need to sit. I am currently taking Symbacort for my asthma, and it does help me breath a little better, but doesn't seem to be of any help when I exert myself with even simple chores around the house. I have constant back pain and that hinders me from being active. I am overweight, 5'4" 228#. I don't eat that much, but the inactivity doesn't help. My quality of life seems to be getting worse and I don't know what kind of doctor to even approach about this. My current primary physician is considered an Internist, but all she does is refer me off to her colleagues. I'm not happy with her. Any suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Need evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ma’am

After going through the medical details provided by you I can understand your concern for your health and I would like to tell you that the symptoms which you have elaborated here could be because of an underlying cardiac pathology apart from your Asthma problem.

As in your case there are associated medical comorbidities like high cholesterol, hypertension, hypothyroidism all these are risk factors which makes a person vulnerable to develop a cardiac disease which could ultimately lead to symptoms which you are currently experiencing like exertional breathlessness.

It’s advisable that you should get an echocardiography done so as to asses the status of your cardiac function (the pumping capacity). As a weakened heart leads to symptoms which you are currently experiencing. So the first step is to get an echocardiogram done.

I hope this information will guide you properly.

Kind Regards
