I Cut The Tip Of My Middle Finger Off Enough
Question: I cut the tip of my middle finger off enough to get close to half of my fingernail on one side at about 8pm last night. It bled very little, and doesn't hurt. I immediately let running water run over it, moistened a gauze pad with Bactine, and wrapped adhesive bandages around that. It has bled a little more, but not enough to soak through the bandages. I'm just confused and don't know what to do.
Our doctor's offices will be closed until Tuesday and I'm not sure I can get in there then. It still doesn't hurt and is bleeding very little if any. I need to know if I need to go to an emergency room or if it will be OK to wait till I can get in to see a Dr.. I will keep it clean and bandaged with whatever you suggest. Right now I have one of the 3 x 4 adhesive bandages on it with gauze underneath.

As the wound is not bleeding, the most important thing is to look for signs of infection, i.e. pain, redness, swelling, pus, fever. See a doctor if you show any of these signs. If it is more than 8 hours ago and there is no bone showing in the wound, all I suggest is you keep it clean.
