Brief Answer:
can take 36 to 48 hours, add anti inflammatory medication

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Clindamycin can be used to help treat oral/mouth infections. It is a second line/choice antibiotic and is usually considered if the person has an allergy to penicillin type antibiotics.

If the PA thought the swelling was due to an infection in your mouth then the clindamycin is appropriate since you are allergic to clindamycin.

It can sometimes take 36 to 48 hours for an initial response to oral antibiotics to occur.

Since swelling occurs as part of the body's inflammatory response, you can consider the use of an anti inflammatory medication even if you are not having any pain.

Anti inflammatory pain killers help to reduce swelling even if there is no pain because they reduce the chemical , eg prostagladins, that cause the swelling eg naproxen, ibuprofen , cataflam etc
These are over the counter meds and can be added to your antibiotic to speed up your response.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
