I Don T Know Why This Happens But The Last

Question: I don't know why this happens but the last couple of times I've been on lower doses of celexa and some other antidepressants (with lamictal) my voice gets very tight, pinched, and it is hard to force my voice out. Is there a reason why this happens? In the past Ive added buspar and it almost immediately disappears. The same is not true for benzodiapines.
Unfortunately Buspar is not an option for me in the long run. I think it is an interaction between the serotonergics and lamictal. It is less likely when Im only taking one or the other.

125mg Lamictal and 10mgs celexa. I know it sounds weird but I have taken Lamictal for nearly 15 years now and the side effects include a lot of involuntary muscle tightness, especially in hips, throat, and neck. I also get headaches, sensitivity to light, and sleep disturbances. The degree to this tends to be linked to the other med(s) I am taking with it.
This pattern is reproducable (so please accept there is a correlation)...as is the loosening effect created by buspar. If I can isolate what quality of the buspar is giving relief I might be able to find it in another medicine.

to follow up...I was re-reading a previous post and I experienced something similar when I added trileptal to Lamictal (before I started celexa). trileptal releases serotonin to some degree. so I expect that is the common interaction.
Interestingly these symptoms only occur with the brand name Lamictal. The generic lamictal in the US has a completely different side effect profile and is much less effective for my depression. Weird I know.

Brief Answer:
This could be part of anxiety.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again
I am using Lamotrigine in dose of 100 mg with Celexa or Lexapro in a number of my patients and I haven't come across such side effects. Celexa and Lamictal can be taken safely together. No need to get worried.
This kind of feeling might be related to anxiety. Anxiety can result in similar symptoms like difficulty in speaking. Buspirone is probably relieving this and this is the reason you're seeing benefit. Slight increased serotonergic Neuro-transmission is probable reason for these symptoms.
Thanks
