I Don't Know If I'm Having A Miscarriage Or Not.

Question: I don't know if I'm having a miscarriage or not. I'm 7.5 weeks pregnant and I woke up yesterday without any morning sickness. I also had a lowered BBT of 97.4, where it has been 98+. I am not bleeding and I woke up this morning with my BBT back to 98+. I have already had a miscarriage once and needed to have a DNC.

Brief Answer:
None of these symptoms seem to be worrisome- details below

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service,

I carefully read your query and understand your concern.

Morning sickness and increased BBT are common findings during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester. On the other hand, they are not specific, which means if they are present or not, they do not determine the health of a pregnancy.

I understand your concern related to previous miscarriage, but the symptoms you are describing are not clear indications of how the pregnancy is going and are not worrisome as long as you have no pain and no bleeding.

I would say that, due to your history, it would be reassuring if you see your doctor and have an ultrasound done. If the measurements of the sac and the CRL (crown-rump length- the embrio's length) are normal then there is nothing to worry about.

An ultrasound examination in the first trimester is routinely done, so it would be a good idea in your case as well and it would give you peace of mind.

I hope this is helpful.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

Brief Answer:
The drop in BBT is not worrisome as long as you have no pain or bleeding

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome back,

I understand your fear of another miscarriage. Changes in BBT are not specific to the outcome of a pregnancy.

Every pregnancy has its risks but as long as you have no pain and no bleeding, you should not worry.
An ultrasound examination is routinely recommended in the first trimester and would NE reassuring if it is within the normal range.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
