I Don't Know What To Do I Had A Miscarriage A Year Ago, Planned Parenthood Did D&C

default
Posted on 8 hours ago
Question: I had a miscarriage a year ago, planned parenthood did a D&C (while I was fully conscious) and put in a mirena iud in the same procedure. I was scarred mentally by their treatment, and I have been unable to have sex since then. The pain is excruciating if I try, in the vaginal canal. I tried to get this IUD removed about 5 months ago and the strings broke, she said it was embedded and ordered an ultrasound. The experience of her trying to remove it has terrified me too because the pain of the speculum was so excruciating. I have avoided doing the ultrasound ever since cause I know how painful it will be, I don't know what to do. I need to be sedated, I hope to God someone understands

Brief Answer:
Ultrasound is not painful and cannot be done under sedation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
An embeded IUD is difficult to remove without a sedation. But before the procedure it needs to be confirmed that IUD is inside the uterine cavity or not. This needs an ultrasound scan to confirm. Ultrasound scan is done with proper lubrication and is an almost painless procedure but cannot be done under sedation. You get an ultrasound scan done and then plan for the procedure to remove IUD.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

That's what no doctors seem to understand, anything in the vaginal canal is excruciatingly painful for me. I haven't had sex since the procedure was done. I can't even use tampons. The speculum inserted was so painful I was sweating and crying and shaking, I cry just thinking about it. No one seems to believe me. I can't go in and just be tortured there has to be some other way. Please, I'm not just trying to get drugged up or something, I have been avoiding this for so long cause it's so painful to have anything inserted, there has to be some other way...

Brief Answer:
MRI scan can be done.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Another way is to get an MRI scan done to locate the IUD and then it can be removed under anaesthesia.
You can discuss regarding MRI scan with your gynecologist.

Oh thank you I was really hoping to hear there a might be another way. Is there any chance I can get a referral for that or would it have to be thru my gyno? I have an ultrasound appointment on the 5th of April, do you think they could do that for me? Thank you for your idea it really gives me hope

Brief Answer:
You can get it done from your gynecologist.

You will have to go through your gyno for MRI scan. You can discuss your problem with your gynecologist and she will refer you for an MRI scan.
