Question: I either gave bppv or hypotension. I get it upon waking and it usually goes away within an hour. today its lasting. My internist is aware and advises me to wait a bit, stay hydrated and be careful not to fall. Any ideas are appreciated.

Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

Regarding your concern , I would explain that your symptoms could be related to orthostatic hypotension.

Do head or neck movements even sitting trigger the dizziness? This could indicate possible BPPV.

Anyway, I recommend having some rest, increase salt and water intake. A coffee can help too.

In the meantime, I would recommend to closely monitor your blood pressure values.

If your situation doesn't improve in the next hours, I would recommend going to the ER for a physical exam and some tests ( brain CT scan, complete blood count, blood electrolytes a resting ECG, kidney and liver function tests, thyroid hormone levels).

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Hello again!

Based on your description of the situation it seems to be stable.

So, I agree with her that the situation can wait and nothing serious seems to be going on.

I agree that meclizine can help reduce the vertigo and dizziness.

So, in my opinion it is just BPPV and meclizine will help improve your situation.

You should try to be patient, because this situation may take some days to improve.
