I Feel A Sharp Prick. When The Urine Stops Stone Of 5 Mm ?
Question: Dear doctor,
I have a stone of 5 mm in the ureter and doctor prescribed tamsulosin 0.4 once daily for me. The problem is since two days I am taking the medication, I have sever nasal congestion which interfere with my breath. I believed it's related to the medicine.
Does the medicine cause that ? And what alternative I can take ?
Thanks

I have sever pain two days ago when I did the ultrasound and found that I have 5mm stone in the lower part of ureter. I started drinking a lot of water and diuretic since then. On the second day my pain just gone and I have very slight pain now which is even not bothering and I am not taking anything analgesics for it. Is that due to may be the stone dissolved and excreted in urine ? Or it could be stayed there without pain ?
Thanks

Mostly stone has passed out in urine.

Absence of pain suggests that most likely the stone has passed out in urine.. This can be confirmed by repeating Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen.

I did Ultrasound and Both kidneys are normal in size and position, normal both PCS, no stone or SOL .
UB normal in thickness, no stone or SOL and the same for GB .
It seems the stone was pass out through the urine.
But I still have some pain in lower abdomen or in the right side . Any reason for that ?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Pain is due to inflammation of ureter (Ureteritis)
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up and feedback .
The pain in lower abdomen that you have is due to inflammation of ureter (Ureteritis) caused by impacted stone in ureter .It gets resolved gradually within two weeks .
You may take pain killers once daily .
The person who gets urinary stones has chances of getting stone again 50% more than a normal individual hence ensure to drink more water (4-5 liters in 24 hours ) to prevent recurrence of stone again .
Thanks and Regards.
