Question: I fell on my butt a littleover a week ago, and it sttill hurts mostly when moving. When I sit the pain eases off. The pain is right in my butt cheek area. No pain in tailbone or hip just in butt cheek area. No bruising or. swelling. Are there muscles in your buttocks, and could I have strained a muscle?

Brief Answer:
Can be muscle sprain or soft tissue injury.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain in the butt cheek on moving can be due to a muscle sprain or a soft tissue injury. There are many muscles present in the area and a sprain can happen.
Since there is no swelling and you can walk normally without much pain any serious injury is not likely. You can do a hot compress in the area and take an oral anti inflammatory pain killer like Motrin for relief.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.

Heat rather than ice? Walking is not bad. Pain mostly when bending or walking up stairs.

Brief Answer:
Heating will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Heating will help as the injury is one week old. There is no active bleeding or swelling. The pain on climbing stairs can be related to osteoarthritic changes also. Mild pain killer will help.
Hope my answer is helpful.

Brief Answer:
Usually heals in 2-3 weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Usually it takes 2-3 weeks to heal with proper rest. In case the pain or swelling increases then do get an MRI scan done to rule out bursitis or any ligament tear.
Regards.
