Question: Brief Answer:
hematoma formation most likely.need further information.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* Bruise of blue purple color with history of fall from bike indicate
hematoma formation most likely.

Kindly provide me further details so that I can answer your query completely.

1. Current size of bruise as it was 4 inches at beginning.
2. Does movement exacerbate the pain scale ?
3. If possible and no objection, visible bruise as photo attachment during
next follow up.

Awaiting for your response.
Thanks.
Regards.

I fell over with a bike that was sitting still about 3 months ago. I had a bruise on my upper leg\hip about 4 inches x 4 inches. It was dark blue=purple. I had a little pain when walking and could not sleep on that side. I just assumed it was bruised. It's 3 months later and I have full to know pain now unless I have an active day and then I still need aleve. I took it easy this summer but I am a school teacher and am back in my feet. Is there anyway it could be something more than a bruise? Do you think I could have broke it or maybe it just needs more time to continue healing?

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the details.

* As per the description it sounds to be dissolved hematoma most likely with
residual changes in terms of skin shade difference.

* In such instance, no active intervention is required and an ice pack
application over the same for period of 5-7 minutes each 3 times a day is
best recommended.

Wish you best recovery.
Regards.

It happened about 3 months ago. You can see where the bruise was but barely. It's not blue or purple now. It's skin color but a different shade so you can see where the bruise was. Probably the same size. It doesn't hurt with range of motion.

Great and thank you. So you don't think I fractured anything? I just assumed I didn't because I could walk.
