Brief Answer:
it is possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

broken ribs may cause pain when moving or breathing deeply. In most cases the pain is alarming enough to drive the patient to the doctor. The doctor may suspect a rib fracture by palpating the ribs and localizing the tender area. Localized tenderness, pain with breathing and other movements requires an X-ray to exclude or confirm a rib fracture.

The ribs are more prone to serious injury in patients with osteoporosis. In such patients a fracture may occur even with minor injury.

I hope I've answered your question. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Kind Regards,
