I Get A Dull Headache At The Back Of My
A couple of pictures of the rash are necessary for better evaluation- shingles may cause similar symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor' service,
I carefully read your query.
Because the headache is associated with the scalp rash, it is very important for a better evaluation to have a picture of the rash as well.
By the information already provided, I think shingles should be considered of both the rash and the headache. This is the case especially if the rash is composed of small blisters. The rash in shingles lasts for 1-2 weeks and can cause severe pain that is not well controlled with usual pain killers such as ibuprofen.
To conclude:
- by what you explain, shingles can be a possible cause of the rash and pain in the area (headache)
- to better evaluate your case, if possible, a couple of pictures would be very helpful
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome back,
Thank you for the reply and the extra information.
Because you have had shingles previously, it is likely that the symptoms you explained are due to shingles as well. Even though the rash may not be painful, it may cause dull pain due to the effect of the infection on the nerve that innervates the area.
Shingles may activate every here and there so it is not unusual if they activate every 3-4 months. It is actually the recurrence every few months that made me think of shingles. Maybe you will need to take treatment for shingles when you get the rash so it heals quickly and this also decreases the recurrences.
Please feel free to upload a couple of images of the rash, if this is possible, so I can better determine the nature of the rash.
I hope this answers your query.
