Brief Answer:
Fibroids may be a cause. Do an ultrasound
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think you should visit a gynaecologist to check the source of bleeding. You may need to an ultrasound to check anatomical structure of uterus, fibroids may be a cause of the bleeding.
Also the doctor should check the thickness of endometrial lining.
Taking count that your mother has fibroids increase the chances that you may have them too.
Taking tranexamic acid is a good idea but it is not working. Surgery may be a choice on case of fibroids. If you have thick endometrial lining d&c procedure may be needed.
Hope I have answered the question.

I have told my doctor about all of this and I am unsure on how to get myself referred to the gynaecologist if she has not done it already.
