I Grew Up In A Home Where Both My Mom

default
Posted on Sun, 15 Mar 2020
Question: I grew up in a home where both my Mom and Dad smoked. I moved out when I was 24 and have never smoked. My Mom just found out she has stage 3B lung cancer. Should I be worried for myself and is there anything I can do or any tests or screenings I should have done? Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Passive smoking carries slight risk.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Passive smoking carries a slight risk for lung cancer. However it is lesser when compared to actively smoking cigarettes. There is no recommended screening programs. However you can go for annual chest X-ray to look for any suspicious lesions in the lung. Avoid any future exposure to smoke.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thanks
