Question: I had 2 sudden but brief nose bleeds today. Never happen before I am a 60
year old male in vrey good health

What can cause this

There can be several causes for nasal bleeding...
1. High blood pressure
2. Dry nose
3. A hot and humid environment
4. Deviated nasal septum
5. Nasal infections.
6. Certain medications like tablet aspirin.

For further assessment, kindly follow up with a bit more information.

Please let me know do you have cold, nasal discharge, fever, allergy?
Are you taking any medication like tablet Aspirin?

Treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition. For that, I would suggest you use Xylometazoline nasal drops for 2-3 days after detailed medical examination and ENT specialist opinion.

Along with that, you can use saline nasal drops or petroleum Jelly locally. Avoid hot and humid environment. Use humidifier.

Avoid forceful nose blowing or nose picking.

In case of bleeding, never die down. Apply pressure locally for 10 mins. Use ice packs.
