Question: I had Adnexal Lymphoma 5 years ago. My Cancer has been in remission. About 2 years after treatment, they found infiltrates in my lungs.I'm not sure what the dimensions of the 2 nodules found. I have had a bronchial infection recently, and had a chest x-ray yesterday. They came back that the nodules had increased in size. I was also biopsied at the same time, with a bronchoscopy that came back negative. Do you think i am at risk for lung cancer.

Brief Answer:

Not having chance of lung cancer

Detailed Answer:

Hi

Since you had suffered from Adnexal Lymphoma 5 years ago. and had undergone treatment and your nodules in lung have increased in size on chest x ray and had recent bronchial infection and lung biopsy was negative i do not think you have risk of lung cancer,

As you are not you are having associated symptoms of dry cough, blood in sputum or swollen lymph nodes in neck then i do not think you are having lung cancer,

But you must be kept under observation and would advise you to do a follow up CT scan of chest to see the size of the lung nodules.

If it is static then nothing to worry otherwise if it increases in size then repeat biopsy needs to be done to rule our lung cancer

Regards

I recently did have a bronchial infection accompanied by a cough. My primary care physician ordered a chest x-ray, and it came back with fluid in the lungs, plus increase in size of nodules from 3 years ago. That is why I'm asking the question if you thank I am pre-cancerous. Do you think the increase in size of the nodules is due to the virus, and do you think it is necessary to see a pulmonologist since the biopsy came back negative 3 years ago?

Brief Answer:
Fresh biopsy test and plueral fluid test for malignant cells

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Since the nodule has increased in size and last biopsy done was 3 years ago you need to do a fresh biopsy to rule out lung cancer as their is also fluid in your lungs.

Also testing of lung fluid called pleural effusion for malignant cells is a must
