I Had D&C Due To Missed Abortion On 21st Dec
Question: I had D&C due to missed abortion on 21st Dec. I bled for two days only and light spotting after that. On 14 XXXXXXX 2020, I consulted another doctor who told me that I have RPOC and will require another D&C. She also gave me one dose of vaginal misoprostol and some tissues came out. I underwent another ultrasound and was again told that I have small RPOC, uneven and thin (8-9mm) endometrial lining and will have to undergo another D&C. Now I have small bleeding. I think it's periods. And some fibrous material also comes out. Is it the remaining tissue. Can I avoid undergoing another D&C. I also had bacterial and fungal infections and taking medicines for them.
Brief Answer:
D & C will ensure complete removal of products of conception
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is hard to comment whether the fibrous tissue is product of conception or just endometrial lining or blood clot.
Retained product may also cause other symptoms like fever, vaginal discharge, continued bleeding etc. Another ultrasound after the periods, beta HCG levels and vaginal examination by gynecologist will be needed to confirm if RPOC is there or not. If the repeat ultrasound may come back normal, then D&C maybe avoided.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
