I Had Lasik A Couple Of Weeks Ago, But After

Question: I had Lasik a couple of weeks ago, but after smoking marijuana, the right side of my face feels numb and eye feels like it's turning in my head.
Brief Answer:
Most likely will not affect Lasik surgery
Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using 'Ask a Doctor'. Most likely this is a temporary effect from the marijuana that will not affect the Lasik surgery and will eventually pass. A couple week after the Lasik surgery, much of the healing has already taken place, though you should still be careful to avoid any trauma or rubbing the eye for at least the next couple months. But marijuana use would not be expected to cause any problems.
I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions about that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.

I don't feel the same sensation within my left eye/left side of my face. Is this now something that could be neurological?

I know, it won't affect my Lasik surgery, because my vision hasn't changed.
Brief Answer:
Unlikely neurological
Detailed Answer:
This would be very unlikely to be neurological. It would require there to be damage to a very specific group of nerves or a specific part of the brain. How long ago did you smoke marijuana? How long have you had this sensation?

I smoke marijuana every day and I've had this sensation for almost a week now.

Is there anything else that I can do?

Brief Answer:
Please describe more about your symptoms
Detailed Answer:
No, it isn't.
Can you tell me more about the symptoms?
Is it just your face that feels numb?
Does the numbness go across the top of your head or down your neck at all?
Can you tell me more about what you mean about your eye turning in your head?
Do you have any weakness on that side of your face?
Does the sensation seem to get worse and better throughout the day, or does it just stay the same?
