Question: I had a Lupron injection six weeks ago and I am on a 12-week course. I was told my libido and impotence would return after the 12-week course. How long will it take for my testosterone level to come back up and will my libido then improve and impotence go away or is it permanent? Also, my surgeon gave me a prescription for Cialis. Will Cialis do any good while I am on the Lupron? He also recommended a penis pump. I am confused regarding the long-term implications of the one Lupron shot.

Hi Tjld,

The Lupron shot is supposed to increase levels of testosterone, thereby increasing libido. It usually takes these 12 weeks or so. The cialis works in a different way, by increasing blood flow to the penis. This is a temporary solution to help treat erectile dysfunction until there is an effect of the Lupron. A penis pump is yet another possible temporary treatment, you can try it with or without the cialis.
