Brief Answer:
Transmission is not 100 percent nil

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

I read your query and understand your health concern. Sorry, you have not mentioned your age and gender.

Going by your query, it seems like the pus was removed from the pimple using an acne extractor. If the acne extractor was not properly sterilized before using it on you, or if you had any visible cuts on your nose when the pus removal was done, then there are chances that you may get infected with HIV. However, the acne extractor should have viable HIV virus on it's surface to transmit the infection. Hence the transmission is very very low but it is not 100 percent nil.

If you want to clarify this doubt, I suggest you get a rapid HIV antigen test done, or RTPCR test done at any nearby lab to you after around 6 weeks.

Please let me know about your follow up queries.

Dr Shanthi E

Brief Answer:
viruses can't be alive on fomites

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Viruses usually can't be alive on fomites or foreign bodies. However, it is always safe to practice universal sterilization methods like sterilizing the acne extractor before using it, although it was left unused for 6 hours.

Hope this answers your query. Do let me know if you have more concerns.

Dr Shanthi E
