I Had A TURP In January 2017. I Have No

Question: I had a TURP in January 2017. I have no bladder pain, my stream is reasonably large but I can only hold a cup of urine before having to urinate. I get up every hour to hour and a half to urinate. I am so frustrated at not being able to get enough sleep, I don't know if this is caused by a thickened bladder wall, or weak muscles, or missing muscles or ???? I had a cystoscopy in January of 2019 and the urinary tract was wide open, Even 6 months to a year after the original TURP I could only hold a cup of urine before needing to urinate.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to weak muscle.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The inability to hold urine after TURP can be due to weak muscles. This can also be a nerve related issue. Pelvic floor exercises and multivitamin supplements can help to some extent . You can consult your urologist for further evaluation .
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.

Dr. Tayal.
Your answer is not very helpful. There must be some way to narrow the situation down. Where do I learn about pelvic floor exercises? What do you mean by nerve related issues? If I do pelvic floor exercises am I in danger of making a possible thickened bladder worse? Some detailed instructions would be helpful in order to try and sort out my situation. My Urologist just said that Flo-max probably wouldn't do much. I take a high quality multi-vitamin.

I see you are an Orthopedic Surgeon. Would it not be more appropriate for me to be communicating with a Urologist?

Brief Answer:
A physiotherapist can help you.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing in again.
You can learn pelvic floor exercises from a physiotherapist. These will not worsen the already thickened bladder. These will help in increasing bladder capacity.
Yes, You can also ask a separate query directed to a Urologist.
Hope my answer is helpful.
