I Had A Cough On My Way Home From Work

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Apr 2020
Question: I had a cough on my way home from work yesterday. This morning I followed NHS advice and told work I was self isolating for 7 days. I work with the elderly and live with wife and 4 children. However I only cough 5 or 6 times per hour, have symptoms of Post Nasal Drip, feel fine and have no temperature. Should I self isolate or call to get back to work as I only have mild cough and no temperature? Thanks

Brief Answer:
Self isolate

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Do you have past history of such cough episodes, allergy or asthma?

Its just repeated cough episodes and seem to be restricted to upper respiratory tract only and less likely to be Corona. Just to be on safer side and avoid further public contact, I will advise that you self-isolate yourself even from your family members. Even if you dont have corona, your respiratory inflammation weakens your immunity for some time.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
