I Had A Cyst On My Middle Back Drained 6

default
Posted on Sat, 10 Nov 2018
Question: I had a cyst on my middle back drained 6 weeks ago. The doctor used a punch biopsy tool to create a whole, then mashed the contents out. The hole still has not closed and a drop of blood is present on the bandage every day when I change it. A picture of the hole is attached

Is it normal that the hole hasn't completely healed yet?

Brief Answer:
Wound looks clean...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Usually healing is complete in 2-3 weeks time. But some times the healing process is slow. As long as there is gradual progress in healing and there are no signs of infection it should not be a worrisome.

From the pictures you sent, the wound seems to be healing and uninfected. Therefore I am not really concerned about the slow process of healing. Continue to keep it asterile, clean and dry. Perhaps you may also consider changing bandage alternate days instead of every day. A healthy diet will help. You may also check blood sugars if it hasn't been tested in the past.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
