Question: I had a fall tonight. I was able to get up and walk, but the side of my foot hurts when walking, but not severe.I have been putting ice on it. There is a little swelling but not bad. It doesn%E2%80%99thurt at all when I am not moving. Could my footbe sprained?
Brief Answer:
Can be a sprain or hairline fracture.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain at the side of the foot can be due to a sprain or a small hairline fracture. If there is a pain on putting a deep pressure on the area at rest then a bone injury needs to be ruled out after an X-ray. Till then keep the foot elevated on two pillows, take rest and continue with ice.
I hope this answers your query.

What do you mean by pain when putting pressure at rest? Do you mean pain when justsittingor lying down?
Brief Answer:
Details below.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
When you are just sitting then press the area with your own thumb and see if there is a sudden sharp pain. If there is a pain then a bone injury is likely. However it can only be ruled out after an X-ray.
Hope my answer is helpful.
