I Had A Gallbladder Ultrasound Scan Done 11/02/2017. The Report
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I had a gallbladder ultrasound scan done 11/02/2017. The report indicated "The right kidney measures 11.8 cm in the sagittal dimension. There is mild right kidney pelviectasis." My left kidney was removed in XXXXXXX , 1958. Is this something that I should be concerned with? I am mildly diabetic.
Brief Answer:
Not overly concerning unless functions are altered...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Since of 11.8 cms is mildly above the normal size of kidney and therefore reported as mild pelviectasia. Unless the functions are altered as indicated by serum urea and creatinine values, the mild elevation shouldn't worry you.
If the tests weren't done, discuss with your treating doctor. He/she can order the necessary blood tests along with an urine examination to rule out other causes of pelviectasia.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.
Regards
