I Had A Lung Spirometry Test. It Says Probable Restriction
Question: I had a lung spirometry test. It says probable restriction and recommends further testing. It says lung age is 89 even though I am only 67 years old. My primary care doctor says results are OK. I have no symptoms of any lung problem. I exercise 30 minutes of cardio 4 times a week, I can hold my breath for 80 seconds. I go dancing every 2 weeks and can dance for two and a half hours without even sitting. I can walk fast and no breathing issue. Please advise your thoughts.

Hello and welcome in HCM
I can understand your concern
According to the history you provide it would be better for me to see the result of Spirometry test to be more exact in my answer.
However if it is a mild restriction than nothing to worry about. If not than do a chest x Ray first and you can attach me the result and i will try to help you again.
Or you can repeat the test again to be sure for the restriction.
Hope to have been helpful

Thanks for your response.
Can you give me your thoughts with the information I have. With the physical fitness I mentioned previously, is it possible to have a substantial restriction? Are there other good tests for the lungs? What will a chest x ray tell? Also I am a ex smoker. Smoked 1 pack a day for 10 years, quit 35 years back.

Hi again
Usually in such situation there are some steps we follow in diagnosing the cause of restriction :
First we do chest x Ray and if we find any lung tissue problem in it then we order a chest ct and a DLco test to detect if there are gas exchange problems.
However if you do exercise i don't think you will need the above
