I Had A Physical A Week Ago And Had Some
Question: I had a physical a week ago and had some "abnormal" blood results I'd like to discuss. My WBC was 3.9K/uL, my RBC was 4.29 M/uL, my MCV was 101.5 fL, and my MCH was 34.5 pg. My doctor wants o retest my WBC in a couple weeks which has me concerned. I'm also confused because my WBC has been exactly 3.9 every year for the past three years.
Brief Answer:
Most likely it's normal for you
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query. I understand your concern.
As the WBC has been 3.9 throughout, it's likely to be normal for you. So I would not worry so much. After 2 weeks it's likely to be same only.
However, as the MCV is slightly high, I would suggest getting serum vitamin b12 and folate levels and supplement if low.
Hope this helps.
Regards

Thank you for your prompt reply, Dr. XXXXXXX Concerning my WBC history, as I mentioned my WBC for the past three years has been exactly 3.9 each time I was tested for a total of three tests. In March of 2015, however, my WBC was 6.1. Since my WBC has been stable at 3.9 for the past three years but was higher before, is that still okay? Thank you...
Brief Answer:
Still, I feel there's nothing to worry
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,
Considering the stability over the last 3 years, I think there's nothing to worry.
