I Had A Risky Event With A Lady That Has

Question: I had a risky event with a lady that has HIV. The event was a broken condom the odd item was that it was a pea sized hole that I found after I pulled out and the head was still covered. Any ways I tested only with the Oraquick home swab at 6,8,12,15, & 52 weeks all negative. I had the same swab test done at a clinic called Oraquick Avanced but it was just like the one I did at home and this was done a 15 months and again negative. I then tested myself at 2 years with a home swab kit again and got a negative. So I have really struggled weather or not the mouth swabs are accurate but the clinic I went too told me they are as accurate as blood. I was doing good and everytime I get sick it pops in my head that I may have HIV or that incident. Most recently I got results of my Triglycerides were 401 and I was reading that this is a identification of HIV.

So can I trust my results with so many tests and the length they were done with? And are a increase in Triglycerides really a sign of HIV infection?

Increased triglycerides are not specific indicators related to HIV.

Hello and welcome in"Ask a Doctor" service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Based on your history, having a risky sexual intercourse with HIV positive partner, I think you have right to worry and to get HIV test but this doesn't mean that you are definitely infected with HIV.
In my experience I have seen a lot of people that are HIV negative even after some nonprotected sexual intercourse with HIV positive partners.

You should know that negative results of oral swab HIV test after 6,8,12,15, & 52 weeks and specially 2 years from exposure are very accurate and conclusive.
So, this is a good news and you shouldn't worry because you are definitely free of HIV.
Furthermore, increased triglycerides are not specific indicators related to HIV, but could be related even with other causes.

Hope I have answered your query.

You state not specific does that mean HIV will cause triglycerides to raise? What other reason cause the triglycerides to raise?

Brief Answer:
Burning of your bottom feet is absolutely not related to HIV.

Hello and thank you writing back n "Ask a Doctor" service.
I am sorry for my late response.

You should know that the most common acquired causes of high triglycerides are obesity and physical inactivity.
But this could happen as a result of familial hypertriglyceridemia or use of some medications(for example some antiretrovirals).
Burning of your bottom feet is absolutely not related to HIV.
I suggest to meet an endocrinologist to define the reason of these symptoms.
